Are electric scooters legal in the UK?

Electric scooters are currently legal on private property and we make these legalities clear to potential customers and consumers of our electric scooter range. The legalities around riding an adult or child’s electric scooter on the pavement are based on a set of laws originally written in 1835 - there’s more information about horse and carts then there is electric scooters. We provide tips and advice on how to use all scooters (both electric and non electric) safely and considerately through our Scoot Safe scheme. We do believe a change should come and the laws around using electric scooters should be considered in line with the 21^st Century world we live in. While electric scooters can make the daily commute much more enjoyable, they also have a hugely positive impact on the environment especially in heavily congested cities. Countries including Switzerland, the US and Australia have been leading the way in adopting electric scooters and are already seeing the benefits.
