Turning Recovered Maritime Plastic into Scooter Decks

The Issue
Discarded fishing nets and other maritime plastic waste can cause serious harm to marine environments and wildlife.

Some fishing gear is lost, abandoned or discarded at sea, where it can continue to damage marine habitats and affect animals such as dolphins, whales and turtles.

Our Approach
Selected Micro scooter decks are made using recycled material derived from recovered maritime-industry waste, including discarded fishing nets.

We work with specialist material partners who process this waste into recycled plastic that can be used in our scooter deck production.

It is one of the ways we are exploring more responsible material choices in selected products.

Turning Recycled Plastic Bottles into Accessories

The Issue
Plastic waste can cause long-term harm to marine environments when it is not properly collected, reused or recycled.

Plastic bottles are one source of this waste. When recycled correctly, they can be processed into rPET – a recycled polyester yarn that can be used to make new products.

Our Approach
Selected Micro accessories are made using rPET produced from recycled plastic bottles.

Working with specialist material partners, the bottles are collected, cleaned, processed into flakes, converted into recycled polyester yarn and used in selected Micro bags, holders and accessories.

This is one of the ways we are increasing the use of recycled materials across selected products.
